KARADENİZ

Extending for about 500 km along the Turkish Black Sea coast, Karadeniz (Turkish: Batı Karadeniz) is a region of remote and rugged shores backed by lush and hazy mountains. The main drawcards, though, are the old towns dotting the region from one end to the other, both on the coast and inland, and ranging from run-down and modest to the perfectly renovated and up and ready for tourism, and the pristine, scenic mountain lakes

        İSTANBUL – AFYON – ANTALYA

Afyon, the Black Fortress of Opium—what a name for a nice town! It comes from the sheer rock promontory topped by an age-old fortress at the town’s center (map).

          İSTANBUL– BURSA-İZMİR- KUŞADASI-AYVALIK-KAZDAĞLARI

Local legend claims the Devil left his footprint on the aptly named Devil’s Feast, arguably the finest lookout in the Ayvalik area. The over-hyped footprint is actually just a geological feature created naturally thousands of years ago; most visitors to the area flock to this spot for its sweeping views of the nearby Ayvalik Islands. Tip for photographers: in the early evening, the fading sunlight provides ideal conditions for dramatic shots. Prepare for the uphill walk by wearing a pair of comfortable shoes, and make sure to bring a light snack and lots of drinking water.
